I think to myself what could possibly go wrong as I let Melissa lead me into the mall. The rain was soaking the suit I had been wearing, even thought it had begun to dry off right after the funeral. I looked around the car filled parking lot as we slowly walked towards the mall entrance. I begin to feel nauseous again as my vision began to swim. Melissa had ran ahead in order to get out of the rain; I went to call out to her, to tell her that I needed help but then all went black.
I woke with a startle. I began to cough and opened my eyes. I felt like I had been ran over by something, the nauseous had faded and the pounding headache that I woke up with was now gone. I looked to the cloudy sky to see rain falling. I though to myself it wasn’t raining as hard but then something slammed into me. It felt like somebody had dumped a five gallon pale of water over my head and I was instantly drenched. I began thinking to myself, what the hell, and then it happened again. I yelled in frustration at whoever was throwing the pales of water from the sky. I began running across the parking lot as these ‘pales of water’ pelted me from all directions. I suddenly heard an ear grating sound. It sounded as if somebody was shooting up the parking lot. I dived to the ground with my hands over my head yelling “please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me.” The sound reached a deafening volume and then it faded as I felt as if a tidal wave of water washed over me. I held my breath, and when I slammed back into the ground I breathed in. I began coughing as I looked to what had stopped my flight with water. It looked like one of those amusement park rides, but it didn’t have the hydraulics or anything on it. My mind finally clicked. The thing that was standing before me was a giant shopping cart. I thought to myself what kind of sick joke is this? And then that’s when it hit me. It was at that moment I knew what had happened. It was like the scene out of the Animorph’s books that I had read as I child. I thought to myself that this couldn’t be happening. I knew that my current size had changed, that I wasn’t full height anymore, I knew for the lack of better words; I had shrunk.
