It was a help wanted poster for a medical research center somewhere in the city, where they test medicine to see if it's safe before sending it to pharmacies and hospitals. On one hand...er, paw, you didn't want to be used as some sort of lab rat, but on the other your stomach was pleading for food, and the job payed well enough for a few hamburgers at least.
It took you a while to get to the facility, asking around and showing the poster to passing strangers, but you where able to get proper direction and finally made it. The research center stood out from the rest of the dull buildings in the city; it had a surreal, colorful and modern look to it, suggesting it was designed by a professional artist.
The lobby room was huge, clean and comfortable. An attractive wolf sat behind her reception desk, a few buttons on her white shirt undone, exposing the deep cleavage of her breasts.
"Hello," you greeted, "I'm here to apply for a job."
The wolf looked up from her paperwork, and you showed her the poster, causing her to beam.
"Just a second, sir," she said.
She picked up a phone at the desk, spoke a few words into it, and turned to you again.
"This way, sir," she said, rising to her full height, and you were surprised how tall she was, at least a foot bigger than you. "Follow me."
Obediently you followed the receptionist, and she led you through a series of hallways. You finally arrived at a double door, and she ushered you inside. The room was filled with bubbling chemicals, cabinets full with medicines, computers, microscopes, and other machines you couldn't identify.
An overweight badger was looking at some papers carefully, like he was trying to come to some conclusion, not paying any attention to your arrivals.
"Professor," the receptionist announced, "we found a tester."
It was only then that he looked up, mildly surprised, and said, "Thank you, Blair."
The wolf nodded and left. You watched her go, uncertain of what to do, but a hand dropped on your shoulder, starling you.
"So, you volunteered to be our new test subject for the great or good of medicine, hey?" the badger said.
You nodded.
"Good!" he exclaimed, reaching for a clipboard and pen, shoving it into your face. "Sign here and here and here," he indicated with his finger at blank spaces on the paper.
You looked like some sort of contract, and you really wanted to know what it was all about, but you decided against it, for this wasn't your place to ask questions. You took the risk, making a few random curls on the paper, for you didn't have a hand signature.
Pleased, the badger held the clipboard to his chest and said, "Thank you. Now, mister..."
You quickly thought of a name. "Roofus," you said.
"Roofus," the badger repeated, "If you would follow me, we have a few products we need you to test."
While you followed him, you couldn't help but ask, "Are they dangerous?"
"We don't know," the badger said, "that's why you are going to test them."
You where led into another room that had a single table and on it were three bottles, each a different color. You where told to stand there while the professor went somewhere else. A few moments later his voice came over a intercom.
"Okay, Mr. Roofus, here is how it's going to work," he said, "You are going to take one pill out of a bottle, and then you are going to explain to me in every detail what you feel afterwards. Understand?"
"Yes," you replied.
"Good! Let's start with the..."
