Chapter #4I'll do it! by: Unknown $250,000 is more money than you've made in your lifetime. You've always wanted to be on TV. When you were in college, you loved the few times you took advantage of the all-you-can-eat cafeteria... and now, you won't have to run on a treadmill for hours on end to take care of the side effects. Let's face it, you're a glutton for attention.
Flashing your best thousand-dollar smile, you give the elephant a wolfish grin. "You know what, sir? I'm in."
The elephant's face is euphoric. "You have no idea how great that news is, Mr..."
Wait. Do you have a name? You can't remember your name, and you have no ID. Crap. Thinking quickly, you make up the first, worst thing you can consider.
"Sunday. Cherry Sunday's the name," you tell him... hoping he doesn't see the ice cream shop's advertisement flying behind his head.
"That's an odd name," the elephant starts to say. "And yet you're as thin as a twig?"
"Yeah," you quickly stammer, "my parents named me Jerry originally, but I got the nickname after the ice cream because of my coloring," you lie through your teeth. To be fair, it's not a terrible lie, as your red fur is dark enough, and your white fur creamy-colored enough, to help you out.
The elephant considers this for a moment. "Well, with such a name, I'll be expecting big things from you! By the way, the name's Cal Pachy."
"Cassie, come here," Cal says to one of the workers, who is finished removing the postings from the audition. "Could you take Mr. Sunday here to the studio? Now that we've got him in the picture, we can get things started tonight."
A tabby cat walks over to you, wearing a YummTV branded shirt over her corpulent frame. "Right this way, Mr. Sunday," she says, gesturing toward a large golf cart near the far side of the gazebo. As you climb in, sitting in the seat that could hold a fur four times your side, you suddenly get a small bout of butterflies. "My big TV debut..." you think to yourself. "No wait, my BIG TV debut," you correct yourself, chuckling a bit. Whatever the next few days will hold, you'll likely come out a changed person... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
