Part of the reason for Dawn's condition was that her poor stomach wasn't able to hold much food, and any that she did manage was usually thrown up again. Johanna knew that the Apicot Juice would help her stomach be able to hold more of the food that she needed so much, and that it would hopefully allow her to gain weight at a faster, but still safe pace; she had been worried the other juices would be too taxing for her weak daughter to handle. It was was with that Johanna purchased a crate of the juice from the good Professor, with the promise he would have more on stand by should she want it.
Pouring out a glass of the apicot juice, Johanna took it upstairs to her daughter, sitting on the edge of the bed as she gazed down at her sleeping face. Gently shaking her awake, she smiled the moment she saw those beautiful blue eyes, so similar to her own, blinking back up at her. "Hi, sweetheart," Johanna soothed, stroking back Dawn's hair from her face, "I want you to try and drink some juice for me. Okay?" Dawn nodded, and Johanna helped her to sit up, trying not to feel too alarmed by how easily she could feel her shoulder blades sticking out of her back.
Johanna handed Dawn the glass of juice, and watched her drink it. Dawn took a while to finish it, but she did, leaving only a scrap of peach coloured juice at the bottom of the glass. She smiled at her mother before lying back down again. "That was nice," Dawn murmured softly, "I really liked it." Johanna's smile grew on hearing that, it had been far too long since Dawn had admitted to liking something that was food or drink related.
"Try to sleep," Johanna told her, taking up the empty glass once she had tucked Dawn back into the bed, "You can have a bath tomorrow, okay?" With that she left the room, only able to hope that the juice would start helping her daughter very soon.
It was late into the afternoon the next day that Johanna gave Dawn her much needed bath, she didn't want to risk Dawn standing in the shower and passing out from exhaustion, and she knew her daughter loved to be clean; she was entering that age when appearance was everything. Helping her daughter into the warm, bubbly water, Johanna noticed with some surprise that the juice was already starting to work. Dawn's stomach had been concave the day before, but now it was flat, and starting to very slightly round out. She started to wash her daughter's hair, suds trailing down to drip into the water.
"Hey, mom?" Dawn spoke after a moment, looking up to her mother, "I'm kinda hungry. Can we eat after this?" Johanna smiled so brightly she could barely speak for a moment, before nodding her head.
"Of course, sweetheart."
