Chapter #5

Know you better, so let's chat!

    by: Unknown
"Let's just talk," you say, taking a seat on some bleachers alongside the gym walls.

"Sure, okay," Drake replies and jumps up on them and takes a seat a bit further up than you. He leaned back and stretched and for a moment you were sure you saw a few red scales on his smooth preteen armpits. Then he finished and you lost sight of them, though it, together with a bunch of other things, was making you wonder. "So I'm Drake, I'm the trainer here, but you know all that. What about you?"

"Oh, um, I'm Michael and I'm seventeen. I used to live near here then I moved when I was seven, and I just moved back last week."

"Nice. What made you come out to visit us?" Drake asked.

"Well I used to come to this spot a lot when I was little. It was sort of my own little spot where I could be by myself, or sometimes play with my friends," you explained, "So I wanted to visit my spot and I found your little cottage here and, well, here I am."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Drake said, "We didn't know we were setting up on a spot special to someone."

"It's... well it's not okay, but it belongs to the forest I guess," you sigh, "So I guess I forgive you. But what are you all exactly?"

"What do you mean?" Drake asked, though there was an edge of nervousness to his voice. "We're just a bunch of kids living in the woods."

"No you're not," you reply. You weren't brilliant, but you were smart enough to know something odd when you saw it. These weren't just kids, and you could see that easily. "Luke's spooky, Wil's way more authoritative than a twelve-year old could possibly be, and you have red eyes and scales."

"I don't have scales," Drake protested with a laugh, "You're seeing things dude."

"Perhaps, but there's plenty of other things off about this place. It's bigger on the inside for example."

"Oh, no it, uh, it just looks smaller outside than it actually is," Drake stuttered, clearly not good at lying.

"And does Luke normally stalk people simply for living near this place?"

"No, he just- come on man, I'm not good at this sorta thing," Drake whined, sounding more and more nervous.

Well that confirmed one thing; Luke had definitely been stalking you before, which explained that uncomfortable feeling at home. You weren't really sure about anything else, but you had your suspicions. Still, it was probably best to avoid annoying these kids too much, especially with Luke around. Or Drake even, if he really was what you suspected him to be. "Alright, so let's get to working out," you say, "What kind of drinks do you have?"

"Oh! Well I have Dragon Fire, Tiger Blood, not real blood mind you, and Pumped Up," Drake explained, his cheeriness restored.

"Okay, well I guess I'll have..."

You have the following choices:

1. Dragon Fire or Tiger Blood

*Noteb*
2. Pumped Up

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
