Jealous glares and angry frowns turned your way as you stood there, thoughtfully doing some math in your checkbook to see how much the purchase would drain your account. You'd spent almost eight thousand riol on this single purchase. But then, considering the item, it was worth the cost to own the being forever.
You ignored the glares and frowns as you moved through the crowd. Humans made up a large portion of the world, so it wasn't unusual for a human to bring some of the big money to an auction. All the same, you could tell that some of the other races had been hoping to win that particular item and were rather annoyed by the results. You muttered apologies and excuses as you moved through to the trading station, where the ownership papers would be signed, the riol would be given, and the necessary preparations would be made to the slave before they were transferred to your ownership.
