"Well," your mother starts. "It's about your sister Jennifer. Just yesterday, she started feeling really sick. We've taken her to the doctor, and there doesn't seem to be anything they can do for her..." She pauses for a moment, tears welling in her eyes. "I just don't know what to do for her!" she shouts as she throws her arms around you, burying her face in your chest. You guess the best thing you can do for her at the moment is console her, so you wrap your arms around your sobbing mother, gently rubbing her back with your palms.
"It's gonna be okay, Mom," you try to reassure her. "Everything will be alright."
She sniffles, saying with a quivering voice, "I hope so. I'm just so glad you're here to help." She hugs you even tighter to emphasize her gladness.
You're beginning to wonder what she means by "help." You reply, "Just say the word and I'll do my best to help out. What kind of help does she need?"
