"Of course I'll help, sweetie," you cheerily respond, planting a kiss on his cheek to reinforce your willingness to assist him.
"Thanks hon. This is our year, I just know it!"
Reluctantly, you and Mark conclude your cozy embrace, getting up from the couch to put your clothes back on. Your timing is perfect, for just after the last sock is back in place, Jennifer strolls through the front door exhausted and famished. From here, the daily routine sets in. As practice for tomorrow's picnic, you cook one of your most delicious dinners for Mark, Jennifer, and yourself. Because your afternoon romp left you and your husband exhausted, dinner is largely eaten in silence with only bits of conversation here and there.
"So how was the job search?" you ask Jennifer in one of these bits of conversation.
"Nothing yet, sadly. I'll have to go searching again tomorrow."
"But your father's company picnic is tomorrow. Don't you want to go?"
Jennifer shakes her head. "I would, but I need to find a job real soon. Hope you win though," she says with a smile.
Leaving the dishes unwashed, you and Mark retire to bed for the night earlier than usual. You will need all of the rest you can get if you're going to cook a winning dish at the picnic.
