High off of the afterglow of his first good deed of the day, it wouldn't take long before Julian noticed someone else of interest right away.
More accurately, he noticed someones of interest, as his eyes once more landed on another group of young boys, all looking about the same age as the English boy he helped. It was uncanny how much they resembled him; they had the exact same kind of playfulness and open elation as him, running all across the edge of the beach and weaving in and out of the waves, almost taking turning trying to throw themselves into the biggest waves that they could find. Though they were already a decent bit tanner than the English boy, and their mops of messy brown and black hair were not nearly as distinctive, they still had the same kind of innocence and joy in life.
An innocence that would be abruptly shattered as a group of gangly-looking teenagers came charging at them out of nowhere, the biggest laughing to himself almost maniacally before spreading out his arms to clothesline one of the boys straight into the water.
It wasn't long before things devolved into a slug fest, the teenagers coming out on top with ease as they managed to pin every last one of the smaller boys down on the sandy shores of the beach. With an intense grimace that could kill a snake, one of the boys yelled out at the biggest of the teens:
"Marcus! Stop this now, you asshole!"
"Aw, afraid I can't do that, little guy. Not before I teach you some respect for messing with my treads!" Marcus snarled, pointing right at the boy that had dared speak out against him, a small scar prominently displayed on his left cheek.
"I told you it wasn't my fault! And leave my friends out of it!"
"Not a chance, Jeffs. You know what they say, what goes around comes around!"
With far too much glee, the other teens pushed down hard on the boys' pinned elbows, holding them down for as long as possible as the boys cried out in pain. Already, a couple of them were starting to tear up from, and Julian could already see that a couple looked like they were on the verge of their arms being broken altogether. Then, Marcus proceeded to the main event, kicking as much sand as he could straight into their faces as the boys sputtered and begged and pleaded for him to stop to no avail.
It reminded him all too much of life with his older brothers; always being the runt of the litter, always being the one blamed for whatever went wrong, always being picked on and needled and shoved around with no come coming in to help, just because they could, just because they thought they were entitled to do it. Only, in this case, what Jeffs and the others just went through was far worse than anything he even had to suffer.
The idea that they thought they could do that and just get away with it... walk away from the mess while they laughed and laughed it up with the rest of their huckster friends...all because they had bigger muscles and longer legs and deeper voices and stupid, stupid buzzcuts! It made him...it made him...
You know what? He already did one good deed as a super-hero; why not do the same for these kids while also having a little fun of his own~
With a determined glare and an almost otherworldly conviction, he declared to the amulet this:
"I wish for those boys to grow two feet right now and then an inch every minute for the next week!"
As the bullies finally finished their little torture session and began to walk away, self-satisfied at their handiwork and a revenge well served, Marcus suddenly felt a blunt tap jab right at his shoulders. The shark-toothed teen immediately pirouetted around on the sand, more than ready to give the jackass who dared to start shit a piece of his mind, only to be met by the startling sight of his brother Jeffs, but now he was...looking up at him!?!
"The hell-!?"
"Oh Mar-cus~!" Jeffs mockingly announced in a sing-song voice, as his large, yet still boyish hands gripped straight under Marcus's arms, picking him up as though he were nothing more than a mewling newborn.
"Like you said, what goes around comes around, right?"
That was the last thing Marcus heard before he suddenly found himself hurtling through the air, screaming like a banshee as he landed deep in the salty brine with a wet, stingy splat! As he recovered from the first-class chucking, surfacing up the water in a daze, he immediately swan for it as he saw his other friends hurtling right towards where he was in a similar manner, with everyone ending up in a pile in a massive, explosive wave that could be seen from the beach.
And who else was watching but the same little boys, looking on in smug satisfaction as they stood before in their new greater forms! Granted, they had maintained the exact same proportions that they did before; there was just more of them to go around, as they could now content with most adults in terms of height. They were chattering excitedly amongst themselves now, in utter awe of their sudden growth spurt and wondering amongst themselves if some alien or guardian angel had done this to them. Julian couldn't help but feel proud; he really was a superhero now!
Still, he wasn't going to take any chances. They may have been surprised now, but there was no doubt in Julian's mind that those Neanderthals would try to get at them again, possibly with a backup plan. That was why he added the extra bit at the end about them growing an inch every minute for the rest of the week. If they wanted to mess around and find out so bad, wait till they see how they feel in a week's time when the shoe's really on the other end of the foot!
Man, this was soooo cool! If only his friends were here to see this... Maybe he could use the pendant to bring them here!
But not now. The last thing he wanted was to suddenly bring them here out of nowhere when they were possibly in the middle of something, like a family meeting or whatever. He could just make it make it so that they were always here to begin with, but what was the fun of that!? He would wait until it was around nighttime in their time zone, when he was absolutely sure he would be able to get them here with as little fuss as possible. Then, he would s big of a surprise as possible!
(We sincerely apologize for interrupting this story, but for those of you who have just joined us, Julian has just made a wish.
However, in his enthusiasm, he failed to specify exactly which boys he wanted to grow over the course of the week. How exactly the amulet will interpret this wish is anyone's guess at the moment. Will it focus on Julian's intended targets, or will it take a broader approach?
Furthermore, Julian has unfortunately never had math as the strongest subject back in school, as he had no idea just how much growth his wish would truly entail. For those who wish to know, the wish was made on Monday, June 12th, at 5:16 P.M., Hawaii Standard Time. One day has 24 hours, and one hour has 60 minutes, meaning 1 day = (24 hours/day) × (60 minutes/hour) = 1,440 minutes in a single day. This means that by Tuesday, June 13th at 5:16 PM HST, "those boys" will have grown 1,440 inches, or 120 feet. By the end of the week, when the full effects of the wish end, they will have ultimately grown 840 feet, meaning that their final heights would reach an average of 845 feet tall, or exactly the size of the average 50-story skyscraper. Taking the additional two feet into the account, the final total will be 847 feet.
Needless to say, if matters don’t change quickly enough, Julian, along with the rest of Hawaii, will be in for a surprise very, very soon.
For now, though, why not keep track of the time as the days goes on. See exactly how things progress. Perhaps by then, Julian will figure out exactly what he has wrought before matters quickly get...complicated.)
