It was the big day. Christian hopped out of bed and threw his clothes on. He dressed stylishly, a grey shirt and grey jeans with his black beanie on his head, and headed downstairs. Today was his 15th birthday, and he was exstatic to start the day. No, he wasn't doing anything special today. What had him so thrilled was that his best friend, Bryce, had texted him the night before saying he had an amazing gift and couldn't wait to give it to him.
As soon as Christian got to the bottom of the stairs, the doorbell rang. "Christian, could you get that?" his mom yelled from the kitchen. "Sure thing, mom!" Christian opened the doorand saw Bryce standing on the patio with a huge grin on his face.
Bryce was a great friend the Christian, but they did have their differences. Bryce was 16, and towered over all other kids his age. He had shaggy brown hair and tan skin. He also sported an impressive phisique, but itwasn't noticable on account of Bryce always wearing colorful, yet baggy, clothes, which really showed off the artist that he was. WhenBryce hadcame out to Christian as being gay, Christian got excited only to find out that Bryce was really interested in another guy at their school, a tall red head named Nick.
As soon as Christian opened the door, Bryce shoved a small box into his hands. "Its something really special! Go on, open it!" Bryce said, giggling excitedly.
Christian opened the box and viewed its contents. Inside was a silver dragon curled into an "o" shape. Its tail wrapped around an amethyst stone, and there was a small loop with a sliver chain through it on the dragon's head. "Wow! This is a really cool pendant, Bryce!" Cheistian exclaimed. "Yeah! I stopped by this little magic shop the othher day after I heard that they did custom made pendants. I had a design in mind, and they made it! How awesome is that? I still think its weird that a magic shop offered it out of all the other places that I looked, but hey." Bryce shrugged. "I'm really glad you like it though. A lot of time went into that design." "I bet. Well, come on it, make youself at home. I'll be back in a second, I've got some things to put away in my room." Bryce gave Christian a quick hug, much to Christian's delight, and headed into the house.
Christian couldn't help but think to himself as he clasped to pendent around his neck. 'Why can't Bryce want me? I've wanted him for so long. I just wish that he was my boyfriend and that he would share his life witg me, and hold me in his arms out of love instead of friendship.' Christisn had thought and wished this many times before, and felt like nobody heard. He felt the pendant around his neck grow warm. It was metal, so Christian brushed it off as it just absorbing his body heat.
Christian went into his room and put away some boxes he had left out. The night before he had been looking through some older photos of him and Bryce from when they were in middle school. As he picked up a box, one photo fell. Out. He bent over to pick it up. It was a picture of him and Bryce that was taken after their school'sfootball game. Christian remembered that day, it wasthe day Bryce finally came out. Christian had come out a few weeks before, and remembered how crushed he was when Bryce had said who he was interested in. Looking at the picture now, Christian noticed something he hadn't before. Bryce appeared to be holding him tighter than before. Before, Christian remembered that the two were standing with their arms around each other's shoulders, but it was ovious now that Bryce appeared to be cuddling Christian in this photo now. Christian got little exited and wondered if his wish finally came true.
Christian finished with the boxes and hurried downstairs, where Bryce was standing in the kitchen. "Hey, your mom went out to get some cake mix and your brother left for the gym. Your mom said that she trusted you to be alone with me for a littlr while, so I guess I'm in charge!" Bryce gave a mischeivious smile, walked over to Christian, and kissed him on the lips. Christian was surprised at first, then very excited as he kissed him back and wrapped his arms around Bryce's neck. His wish had come true! He guessed that it had to be the pendant,Bryce did say he got it from a magic shop.
After a few seconds, Bryce stopped kissing Christian. "I'm so happy we finally get a chance to be alone! Your mom is nice and all, but she would've never let us kiss in front of her. And your brother is a total homophobe. I really hate him. So what do you want to do?" Bryce asked with a smile. 'So many things...' Christian thought, wondering what other wishes he could have granted.
