You need to fo... by: Mr. George Your fingers tremble as you jam the key into the door. It takes a couple of attempts before you manage it. Slipping into the driver's seat, you feel an unsettling bounce from your chest, as you drop into it. Glancing out through the windscreen, you see, the old lady's car, still within sight.
Instinctively, you slam the door, shut and reach for your seat belt. Each movement brings the same reminder, the delayed sloshing, shifting weight on your chest. You cover the frustration, with a low animal cry. Thankfully, the engine starts first time, as you see the old witch signal at the corner. In a few seconds, she'll be out of sight.
Slamming the car into gear, there's a painful grinding wail from the engine. You ignore it, you have other concerns just now, and you pull out.
Behind you, there's a shriek of brakes, and you see an apoplectic man behind you. His face crimson with fury. You aren't sure how to react, the pressure to follow the old woman at the forefront of your mind.
He rolls down his window, and as he makes you out. He yells abuse about Asian drivers, and women drivers... and slams his fist into his horn for a long blast.
Looking away, you see the old witch has already disappeared around the corner. Anger overrides your better judgement, and you flip off the other driver, leaving a tyre mark behind you, as they take a moment to get traction.
With your new body, your shorter legs, the car is harder to control. But you soon reach the corner. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
