Looking for an excuse, you point to the sign.

Your Japanese isn't very good, and you can't make out much of the sign. But a few of the characters jump out at you.

途方もない女の子のための家

You trace them with your finger dislodging the snow as you go.

'女 Woman... onna'

Catching up with your attempt, a hint of a smile softens her expression.

'子 child er.. ko'

You find yourself struggling to make sense of this, even as you trace out the last one you can work out.

'家 house..school.. uchi?'

You manage to sort your jumbled thoughts from your crude translation, into a coherent thought.

'This is a girls' school?' You squeak the question out, in a more feminine register than you'd like.

She nods towards the sign, and babbles rapidly in Japanese.

'途方もない Touhoumonai onna no ko.'

She repeats the first part more slowly, carefully pronouncing each syllable.
