Ai determined that the most logical course of action would be to call Conan over, as that would minimize the risk of outside interference, and if something were to somehow go wrong, than he would be right there to do something about it; really, with the hero complex he had, he would be grateful. So, Ai grabbed her phone and called Conan up. She waited a moment, and he picked up. "Hello?"
"Conan, it's me. It's finished."
"Seriously?" The boy said, excitement in his face barely restrained.
"Yes, and while I would like to be able to do more testing, the fact of the matter is that as we are the only ones around with APTX-4869 in our systems, we're the only ones who can determine how effective my antidote really is."
"Hey, you think you're talking to someone who's averse to taking risks?" Not at all, she just wanted to make sure he knew this.
"So you'll come over then, and take it with me."
"Damn straight, and then...well, get there when I get there." Ai was silent as she made an ugly expression that Conan could not see, how could he think to say something like that, it was astounding how clueless he really could be. "I'll be right over, won't be long at all."
"Perfect, see you then." Ai turned off her phone, took her seat, and waited. There was nothing to do, nothing she could hope to focus her mind on to distract her, so she didn't even bother.
