Gohan realized that he was indeed hungry; he'd fallen asleep earlier without having any dinner. He slowly looked up at his mom and nodded. "Yeah, I guess I am," he said rubbing the back of his head.
"Alright," Chi-Chi said as she slowly began to leave the room. Gohan was rocked a little bit until he fell back onto his mother's palm. Chi-Chi couldn't help but giggle at Gohan's clumsiness. She decided to walk a little bit slower, so it was a bit longer than a usual stroll to the kitchen, but they soon arrived. "Dumplings and Rice-balls sound okay?" she asked him.
The moment after she heard that, Gohan's stomach groaned and squeaked. "Sound's perfect," he said looking up at her, placing a hand over his belly. Chi-Chi couldn't hear it, but she giggled anyway. She slowly let her hand down to the counter and let him down. She'd already prepared the meal for lunch so she began putting a few dumplings and rice-balls onto a plate. When she was done, she gestured for Gohan to hop onto the plate too.
When Gohan was aboard, Chi-Chi walked over to the dining table and sat down. She told Gohan to help himself to as much as he could eat. The boy began breaking off pieces of the Rice-Balls and eating them slowly - he was always a bit more conservative when it came to eating, unlike Goku. But now that Chi-Chi thought of Goku, she couldn't help but feel a little upset.
(Note; in continuity - this takes place after the Namek Saga but before everyone learns that Goku is alive)
