Heather quickly grabbed the newspaper and wrapped it around herself. She knew she was going to need help getting back into her house, which meant going to a neighbor. Not wanting to go too far in her current state, she ran next door to a neighbor that she knew would be home, Daphne.
Daphne and Heather have always hated each other, so going to her for help was the last thing she wanted to do. Heather got to her house and rang the bell. Daphne soon opened the door. When she saw Heather with just a newspaper wrapped around her, all she could say was, “What the fuck?!”
“I got locked out,” said Heather. “Can I use your phone to call a locksmith?”
Daphne was enjoying the moment.
“Why should I do you any favors?,” said Daphne.
“Maybe because it’s the right thing to do.”
“Tell me what happened first.”
“You can guess what happened.”
“Tell me anyway.”
“Can I come in first before someone sees me?”
“No.”
“Look, this is really embarrassing.”
“I want to hear it from you.” Daphne just wanted Heather to be further embarrassed by having to say it out loud.
“I went outside naked to get the paper and then the wind must have blown the door shut.”
“Who goes out naked to get a newspaper?”
“I didn’t feel like getting dressed. Are you going to help me or not?”
“I’ll think about it.”
“But…” Before Heather could finish her sentence, Daphne slammed the door in her face.
