Heather tried to run, but she tripped and slid off the roof. She didn’t fall to the ground, she dangled from the roof. She screamed, which brought even more attention to her. It caused some neighbors to come out of their houses to find out what was going on, while others, who were sleeping at the time, woke up and looked out their windows. Practically the whole block was watching Heather naked and hanging from the roof. The bus driver got out of the bus and picked up the ladder. He held it against the house, next to her. She grabbed it and climbed down. The driver took off his jacket and gave it to her to wear.
“Thank you so much,” said a scared and very embarrassed Heather, who quickly noticed all of the attention she had gotten.
“You’re welcome,” said the driver. “What happened?”
“I, um, locked myself out… naked.”
“Oh.”
“I was trying to find a way back in.”
“Couldn’t you have just smashed a window.”
“Uh…” She wished she had thought to do that.
Heather’s next door neighbor Brian came and took her to his house to let her call a locksmith. He let her borrow some clothes. She gave the driver his jacket back, thanked him again, and then he left.
The locksmith came and Heather got back into her home. After everything she had just went through in a short amount of time, she hoped the rest of her day would be better. She did learn that she needed to get a spare key and hide it somewhere outside, just in case something like this happened again.
