Chapter #3Big Fat Bat by: Fox Nightfall came to the city of Gotham, and as was the norm for her, Batgirl found herself swinging and gliding across the rooftops. With the dark knight tackling the criminal masterminds of the city, and with the boy wonder busy with his studies, she was alone during her patrol, at least for the moment.
She didn't seem to mind, even when a slow day like this made the hours drag on far longer than if she were actually tracking or trailing some criminal activity. She paused atop of a building in the central section of the city, around her position were a few well-known businesses. She didn't need experience to know that it was more often than not a hotbed of crime.
Scanning the locales, a slight smile appeared on her lips as she came to spot on a familiar figure, the elusive burglar, Catwoman. The dark spandex-wearing woman quietly and expertly was in the middle of breaking into one of the city's most well-known jewelry stores. It figured that the lady always had a cat's eye for anything remotely shiny or valuable. Waiting for her to break in, Batgirl figured it was time she did the same.
Disabling the security system was a little too easy for the cat burglar. Her prize was a jeweled cat figure, imported from Egypt, worth reportedly half a million dollars.
Arrive, steal, leave. Her task was so easy.
On instinct, she dodged a Batarang aiming straight for the small of her back. "Figures he'd be here," the burglar thought to herself, but as she turned her face felt a much different fist connect around her right cheek. "Well," she remarked, "Not who I figured it'd be!"
"Yeah just like I figured you'd be after the kitty cat in the case!"
"Clever girl."
Pulling out her whip, the cat and the bat exchanged strikes with one another. Their battle continued for several minutes. Selina Kyle was not at all surprised with how well Batgirl was able to keep up with her. She was, after all, a partner to the one and only dark knight. However the bat was unaware of the cat's true intentions. While her eyes were certainly on the prized feline, she had been carrying a little something she was very interested in testing, especially after something similar had occurred to her months ago.
Making a hasty retreat after another quick dodge, Catwoman made for her personal entrance, hoping that her opponent would follow, and follow she did. Outside, Batgirl wondered where Selina had escaped to. Just then, Batgirl gasped as she felt her legs suddenly give out on her, causing the defenseless girl to crash face first onto the rooftop's hard surface, knocking her out cold.
Sometime later, with a troubling headache, Batgirl finally regained consciousness, completely unaware of where she was or what had happened to her.
"Ah, nice to see you've come around." She recognized the voice of Catwoman and, sure enough, the sultry criminal strolled up towards her.
"Where am I?" Barbara asked, her mind still foggy.
"At my place," Selina explained, inching ever closer to her prisoner, " You see, I wanted you to test out something for me and, to be quite honest, it worked just as expected! Perhaps even more so."
"What are you talking about?"
"You my dear...well I suppose there's far more Batgirl than there once was." The cat smiled at the bat's puzzled expression. "See for yourself dear!"
Barbara did as she was told and, upon the sight of her once athletic frame, nearly yelled out in terror. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
