Catwoman was perched on a rooftop near the research building. She needed to find a way inside the building and free the animals that were being tested on. Observing the entrances, she mentally weighed her options. She could find herself a disguise and slip in through the main entrance and find the animals that way. Or she could use the air ducts to avoid being spotted. Deciding that she did not want to risk being recognized, she jumped to the roof of the building and use a nearby vent to get in.
On another nearby rooftop, Batman was watching her enter the air duct. He had also heard about the testing and knew Catwoman would come as well. While he knew the tests were illegal and needed to be stopped, he also knew that Catwoman would be angry and try to kill the scientists. He needed to get in there fast. Grappling over to the roof, Batman entered the building through the roof maintenance door.
In the building, Catwoman made her way to the main lab, knocking out the guards along the way. She entered the lab and found it to be deserted save for the animal cages. One by one, she opened the doors to the cages and freed the animals. She had just opened the last cage when she noticed one of the syringes on the table. Inside was the Venom that was being tested. She picked it up and looked it over, trying to decide whether to keep it for herself, sell it, or destroy it. Before she could decide, she heard footsteps. Surprised, she turned quickly and accidentally stabbed herself in the arm with the syringe, injecting the Venom into her. Not noticing, she looked around the lab for an exit.
