Chapter #4Goddess Stories by: MossyA Bruce stood atop a building looking over the city he swore to protect.
Even on night like Christmas eve he still took upon himself to watch over the city, even though he would like to spend it with the bat family. Bruce gazed over the buildings as snow lightly fell around him.
It seem so quiet and peaceful, he heard the a bell ringing in the distance letting him know it was midnight, Christmas day.
Bruce saw a blinking light on his wrist indicating he was receiving a call, he pressed the blue button.
The face of his best friend Clark Kent appeared on his gauntlet, on the screen looking at him.
"Hey Bruce, Merry Christmas" Clark said. "Merry Christmas Clark" Bruce said glad to see his friend.
"Your not out on patrol right now are you?"
Clark asked noticing that Bruce was wearing his cowl.
"Yeah I am Clark, I can't let my watch of this city falter even for a moment" Bruce replied.
"Bruce come on how may crimes have you stopped tonight?" Clark asked.
"One, someone was trying to rob an ATM"
"Good thing you stopped him, the ATM could have really been hurt" Clark said sarcastically.
"Clark...did you need something?" Bruce asked, he never really liked being proved wrong.
"Yeah, I was wondering if I could maybe celebrate Christmas with you and the family tomorrow" Clark asked, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"Lois still mad at you?" Bruce asked. "Yeah she said that we should see other people, I just.....never mind" Clark said looking hurt.
"I'm sorry Clark, of course you can spend Christmas with me, come by the manor in the morning" Bruce said hoping to cheer his friend up.
"Thanks Bruce, I feel bad about inviting myself but ever since mom died I just...didn't want to be alone on Christmas" Clark said.
"I understand, I'll see you tomorrow Clark" Bruce said, understanding exactly what his friend meant. He had spent many times alone on Christmas, and he never wanted to again.
"Try not to work to hard" Clark said.
Bruce ended the call. He sighed as he looked over Gotham the night still quiet. Maybe Clark is right, maybe I should turn in for the night, Bruce thought. "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse" he said with a chuckle.
A red ping on his gauntlet caught his eye, opening it he saw that the silent alarm at the Gotham Museum was tripped. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
