It was hard for Charlie to take. He had a crush on her for years, but he moved at a snails pace to actually summoning the courage to ask her out. He was able to at least enter her circle and speak to her on a regular basis- which in hindsight, might not have been the best course of action. As she always called him up to celebrate things he didn’t seem worthy to celebrate:
“I met a new guy!”
“We finally had sex for the first time!”
“He asked me to move in!”
And then finally...
“He asked me to marry him”
It was hard for Charlie to feign delight with that last one.
So that was it...the love of his life was getting married, and he was left picking up her order from Easy Bride Tomorrow as a favor to her as though he was just one of her bridesmaids...
