Chapter #3

The Dragon Caller

It is dark...

On a chair, in a secluded corner I sat,
a-front my decorations, I thought it just that:
gazing at the statues with their silent eyes on me,
their moulded forms a-wing, stood here before to see,
beside them a model crafted as pool to be
and I slowly nod my head, it is all good to me.

Didn’t remember what exactly I did
but astride the mighty bonzai I found myself a-sit,
the gently trickling of the water from the fountain and stream
half an inch tall I stood up and with a smile
I clearly thought I was dreaming, gone by a mile,
and I heard the wings and my heart did beat
as I saw it approach I lost the motion of my feet,
and I fell on my rear end as she approached my small form,
clearly the ultimatum of my life and beyond any norm
I quivered and half-heartedly wished it a dream

and she bowed forward and brought close her head
and so I cautiously reached out for all I have read,
her breathing was gentle and her voice spoke out said
that she is as she seems, from my spirit she bled,
all the time I had spent there crafting her home
when I felt deprived and in sorrow and oh so alone
she was filled with my hands and my tears from the stone
she need not have a special prayer, a chant or a poem,

I lay gently fore and stroked across her snout
and wondered to myself, briefly, what she was all about,
surely a part of me and no less more so
to what I am led now to where she would go,
I could smell on her all the reality I weave
and the touch is so subtle that it’s hard to believe
that her breathing is real and her voice so soft touched
that she would lay down before me an ode I have judged.

Her mouth slightly parted, for she wanted to be real,
and I stroked there her fangs and knew what I’d feel,
and she licked me so gently as though a mother’s sweet love
that she had bore open her wings to pace the winds up above,
her eyes shimmered golden and she swept away my dark grief
and with it also she said it’s time she must leave...

And so I sat and stirred and woken from the dream,
listening to the pump still working that gently trickling stream,
resting my head against the palm of my hand
sobbing for eternity because I could not understand
how such things could happen in a moment and then suddenly pass
as though a dream but I felt her still here, but there not she was...
