The arcane officer stood behind the alter, clothed in a fine robe. "Approach." He commanded. A child walked up the aisle, flanked either side by fellow arcane practitioners, their identities concealed under their robes. Reaching the alter basin. The officer instructed the child to place their hands into the basins water and be judged. The child did so. "The strength is not present." Declared the officer. The child was then escorted out. It would be some time before the child understood, that none would take them as apprentice...
