James felt better after his shower but the itch on his back was still there. It was not a bad itch but it was still a bit annoying as he could not quite reach it. He sighed, wondering if he should call his family so they don't worry. He moved to pick up his cellphone only to jump as it rang. Seeing it was his mom, Natalie, he answered. "Hello."
"James, where are you!?" panic in her voice, Natalie asked. "We've been searching for you for hours!"
"I'm at our summer home, outside of town." wincing, James replied. "Only I'm not sure how I got here."
"What do you mean you don't know how you got there!?!" her panic rising, Natalie asked.
"I saw three men jumping a girl in an alley." smartly not mentioning her wings, James replied. "I tried to help but didn't see the fourth guy. They jumped me before other people arrived to help." pausing, he added, "One of the guys clobbered me, I passed out and ended up here."
"Are you alright!?" worry in her voice, Natalie asked. "Never mind, I'm coming to get you, just hang in there."
With that, she ended the call before James felt a surge of pain in his back where he was itching. This was followed by a strange sound, like pealing off a latex glove after washing dishes. He reached back to scratch it only to feel...
