Rest

Soon the two start to float down and arrive at a fancy looking building, landing in a plush plaza. A lavish mansion seemingly made of golden clouds.

“Wow. this is… amazing.”

“Thank you~” Myrrh comments. “It is my home. Well, the home of the queen but it is my home as well.” Myrrh closes her wings and starts walking inside, walking past two guards. They offer a nod to the princess and as James goes to enter they block his path, brandishing their spears. Myrrh looks behind her and gasps.

“Only those with permission may pass. Earth Born…” The tall male guard booms down to James. James felt intimidated when he heard Myrrh from behind them.

“Cease Gentlemen… he is with me. He has my permission to enter.” The two guards glare down at him, unmoving. Just as Myrrh is about to speak again, they move, granting James access inside. Myrrh smiles but sighs, beckoning James to follow. James does and eyes the guards as he walks in.

“Thanks. I thought for sure they were going to kick my ass.”

“They would have done much more than that. They are the best in all Misteria. They would have beat you within a speck of your life.” James is taken aback by that and rubs his head.

“Gee… thanks for telling.” He says halfheartedly.

“I told you, there is plenty of discrimination here. Be careful… Even the guards can get lax at Earthborn care…” Soon the two Misterians wander the halls and enter upon a lavish bedroom with a great bed. The walls were a hearty pinkish gold and were 4 meters high. A glass looking wall that seemingly overlooked another plaza with a pool. A full walk-in closet and bathroom were enclosed in their own respective walls. “This is my room,” Myrrh says. “For now, you’ll rest. It… must have been hard to wake up and be a Misterian and… be thrown around like that. I’ll leave you be and let you compose yourself. I’ll be back soon then we can start your lessons on how to fly. If there is anything you need, I will be just outside in the living space.” James nods and Myrrh leaves. James sighs as the doors close. He walks over to the bed and sits down and rubs his face. Now that he had time to think it truly was alarming just how much had changed in such a short time. One minute he was alive and next, he was part of a mythical race of beings that could fly! He would have to face some test to just be able to give his family some closure. James lays back and sighs. This was going to be a challenge. Certainly. He closes his eyes and falls asleep
