Jackie smiles, “You didn’t think I would miss our wedding night, did you?” Maggie emerges from the bathroom in a towel, looking absolutely gorgeous. “Hey Maggie, do you mind if Gerry and I have some time alone?”
Maggie, still dripping from the shower, looks a little disappointed. “Sure, I can go hang out in the outer room and you guys can have the bedroom. Do you have another set of clothes, Jackie?”
“In the green overnight bag.” Maggie grabs the bag and heads out to the suite’s outer room, closing the door behind her.
Jackie pulls out a bottle of wine and grabs some glasses from the counter. “Now, why don’t we celebrate a little bit?”
The two of you sit on the bed, drinking wine and talking about the day. You keep getting momentarily distracted thinking about Maggie sitting alone on the couch outside. But you keep focusing back to the woman in front of you. Jackie had clearly donned Maggie’s silkiest blouse and short-shorts. Her frizzy, dirty-blonde hair fell into her eyes. She was beautiful, in a way, and you know inside those eyes was your wife. You smile, and snuggle a bit closer.
After a few glasses, and a few more, Jackie begins to stroke your chest. She smiles, and leans in for a kiss. It… just doesn’t feel right. Maggie’s lips are too thin, and her cheeks too big. But you try to just let it all go and kiss your wife. You stroke her shoulder as she takes off your pajama pants. You kiss her again and again, still doesn’t feel right, and before you know it you are looking at Maggie’s naked body above you. All of the grace Jackie normally moves with, normally approaches with, is replaced by Maggie’s awkward movements. But you kiss her anyway, and stroke her, and…
It just peters out. You’re just not into it. You apologize and blame the crazy day. You put back on your pajama pants and shirt, and she puts back on her clothes.
“It’s okay,” she says, sleepily. Before long, Jackie is asleep, snoring a little bit, and you are staring at the ceiling, head still spinning from the wine and the crazy day.
Do you fall asleep, or go into the outer room?
