The man didn't care if he was killed, but Hinata's mom slipped the collar on him and he instantly obeyed her every command, while being aware of what he was doing the entire time! Once she slipped this baby around Sakura's neck, she would have a perfectly obedient slave. Then she could keep Sakura locked away in the Hyuga compound and use her whenever she pleases.
The village would search for her, but there would be no reason for them to search the Hyuga compound. They would be forced to say she abandoned the village, and Hinata would be there to comfort Naruto and finally win his heart! Plus, it never hurt to have more slaves. She saw her rival and soon-to-be slave in the distance and smiled. It was time to do what needed to be done to acquire Naruto's love.
