Jessica Alba did not often look back, but occasionally she would watch something from her past. Maybe a clip of a movie or show from years ago, or an old photo, from back when she was one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood. Invariable, she would nod to herself with approval. She might not be quite the household name she was back then, but she was pleased with her success. And still being as astoundingly beautiful and in shape as she was twenty years ago was a huge bonus, if she did say so herself.
Jessica could be humble about her success in film, TV, and her business ventures, but something she never lost was her vanity. Her fully deserved vanity, she thought.
Occasionally she would hear of somebody wondering "What happened to Jessica Alba?" "Why isn't she in things anymore?" "Did she retire?" She thought these were ridiculous questions. She didn't go anywhere. Her priorities changed. The roles didn't dry up, she just stopped seeking them. And she did get steady acting work, no worries there. Her business ventures interested her more. That and, of course, her family.
Jessica had a feeling that this casual impromptu meeting today had to do more with a business proposal than anything else. Maybe she was going to be asked to produce? She had done it before and enjoyed it. Jessica didn't want to assume anything, though. She sat at her lone table in the tiny, out of the way coffee shop, when finally she arrived.
