Just as the dragon said his last words the girl looked up than gasped at you as you revealed yourself. You size and proximity to the ground made a shadow pass over them. The dragon and mayor noticed this and as you roared loud enough to shake the buildings they saw your form. Your kind was well known by the humans and you were well known to the dragons for your actions. So both of them settled back in defensive positions as you took an angle and swooped down. You had one chance at this. The pole the girl was on was too thick to break without your teeth, claws, or tail if you wanted to not harm the girl on it. Since your claws were going to be out of range and your tail was what you were going to attempt a slice at the dragon with that left you teeth.
You gave another roar as you came closer that effectively froze everyone in terror. When you got directly over the girl you put the hole pole in your mouth and bit, severing the pole at the base and trapping both the pole and the screaming girl in your mouth. With the follow-through you draped your tail down and flattened it and your aim was dead on. As you took back into the air the dragon’s head was rolling on the ground as the mayor fainted. At this point you were glad no one was watching as you didn’t want the rep of attacking villages. You stripped the mayor of what happened other than a Dark hunter took her. You made sure he thought it was a female and not you. As soon as you got to your cave opened your mouth and carefully pulled the pole with the girl out. The girl was unconscious, probably fainted from shock. You looked her over and after a bit you sliced the ropes holding her to the pole which was the only thing keeping her from being completely naked.
“Great, now what do I do?” you asked yourself. You now had a naked 12 year old girl in your claws that looked the definition of an abused child; malnourished, beaten, emotionally scared, and dirty. You figured that humans liked being clean so you blew some flames into a waterfall that sat to the right of your cave so the water was comfortably warm for humans and put her under it. You thought she would wake with the water but she didn’t. In a way you were glad so you could wash her off without her screaming at you. After you finished you carried her into your cave and shut the door. You lit some torches that you had built in the wall while in human form. Unlike you, humans couldn’t see in the dark. Your cave was now flooded with an orange flickering glow and you lit the fire in the center as well to keep the now shivering girl warm. But it was too hot of her so you placed her just far enough were you saw that her body was acting kindly to the warmth and not shivering. You then laid down on the away from her and against the far wall so she could wake up without having a heart attack. You knew that humans didn’t like you for some reason and didn’t like all the screaming and when they tried to attack you. You were actually scared of it. Not what they could do to you physically but you hid from the mental abuse that every attempt brought. So with that done you hesitantly fell asleep to the smell of the fire and a human in your cave. It was a pleasant smell and you slept soundly, for a while.
You woke to a sound of a grumbling stomach. Not yours as you had eaten that human and a dragon in the last week. It was the girls and as your eyes darted open you saw she was awake and must have been formerly scavenging around for a way out but now, with the loud sound of her stomach, she was staring at you. Probably more so now as she saw your glowing red eye dart open and looking at her. Your head was turned so she only saw one eye but it was big and bright enough to notice you were now awake. Eventually after a few minutes her current pose was too much for her to maintain so she straightened and faced you. She was still looking for and exit but now also trying to find a way to remain on this side of your teeth.
“I’m… sorry if I… woke you.” she said and you just laid there. This was the first time a human had talked to you without including the word beast, monster, dragon, or other like words. Your slit eye followed her as she moved and she must have figured there was nowhere to hide from you in here. Her stomach growled again and she held it as if to tell it to be quite. After all it was her stomach that got you to wake up in the first place. But you could tell she was very hungry, if nothing else as evidence to her malnourished body.
You started to get up and she backed against the far wall, thankfully away from the door. You then opened it and walked out, then closed it despite her sudden pleading to keep it open. You had saw her shiver when it opened and didn’t need her dying on you either from the cold or running off and into another predator’s stomach. You went off and retrieved some deer than came back. You opened and closed the door as before and she had taken her place on the back wall as she saw you bring in the three deer that were in your jaws.
You spit them out and heard once again the girl’s stomach growl at the sight of them, even uncooked. You then retrieved a large metal grate of sorts and placed it over the fire. Then with expert precision you began gutting and cleaning the deer, eating all the insides yourself as to not waste any food. When you got done skinning them you cut the meat off and started placing them on the fire and they sizzled in the heat as they cooked. You had learned a while back how to do this in both forms. Dragon form was a little harder as your claws were too big but your tail was more than sharp enough to do this kind of thing. And if that didn’t work you always had magic you could use. You ate the rest of the three deer and let about half of the last one cook for a little bit. Then when it was done you placed them on a shield of the knight and carefully nudged it over to the girl. She flinched at first but her hunger was far out weighing her technical reason and after you put some distance between and laid back down where you had started she dug in. You growled a little as you saw her eat which made her stop. You didn’t know much about normal humans but you had seen a beggar eat like that once and he actually died from it. Something about his stomach not being able to handle the mass quantities of food. She tried to grab another but you growled again and her hand backed off.
“No more?” she asked in a wary tone. You came over again and grabbed the shield with the end of your teeth as she sat where she was frozen. You dumped the meat in a mixture of salt and other magical substances you made to preserve it than threw the shield back in the room with the rest of the armor as well as the grate you used to cook it. You then opened the door again and went out but didn’t close it. You laid down outside until she made her way out and saw you were there waiting for her. “Are you letting me go?” she asked.
You growled in return and then looked over to the stream and waterfall then back at her.
“Right, suppose I can’t have a decent meal without something to drink.” She said and she went to the water and drank from it. “Wow this water is amazing!” she said as she continued to drink but you saw the same problem and growled to correct it and she looked up at you as you approached and got the message as you corralled her back into the cave and close the door behind as you both got inside. You went and lay back down and she watched you for a while but then another noise came from her stomach and she looked at your once again opened eye with fright but relaxed as your stomach gave a similar noise as it digested the deer. You watched her and after she sat at the opposite end of the fire for a while she lay down and went to sleep and you did as well. You weren’t sure what to do next as it seemed to be doing well for now. You thought you might be able to talk to her but that might make her more scared and you didn’t want that. Maybe she would talk first, you hoped so, after all that other dragon could talk.
