This choice: Chris continues to grow into a giant • Go Back... Beginning the next day, Nate would start to wake up every morning with a sense of dread, hoping against hope that his brother hadn't grown anymore. And every morning, his hopes were dashed. Chris's growth only seemed to be speeding up, as the formerly diminutive twelve-year-old's body transformed into a behemoth. Within two days, he was already over seven feet tall, and by the end of the week, he was over eight. Their parents, as dumbfounded as Nate was about the whole matter, desperatly tried to keep up by buying bigger and bigger clothes, hoping that Chris's growth would stop before he outgrew them, but that never seemed to happen.
For his part, Chris couldn't be happier. All the kids at school stared at him nearly non-stop with a sense of fear, admiration, and amazement, and the few bullies that gave him trouble before his growth would now flee before they even heard him, knowing that he was on his way by the thumping of his feet. Inwardly, Chris knew that if things kept going like they were going, staying in school would be an impossibility, so he enjoyed the domination he had there while he could.
The domination extended to home, as well. Formerly master of the TV, Nate now begrudgingly relented and gave Chris control of the remote, fearing that he would pin him down and force it (or go up to his room and hulk through all the rest of his clothes like he had done with the jersey). Chris also started getting into the habit of ordering Nate around, telling him to go do things for him or to get out of a room immediately, all of which Nate obeyed, lest he suffer the giant's wrath. Nate hated this turn of events, and tried to think of a way to get the upper hand again, but nothing he could think of would help.
And Chris continued to grow...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
