“You know, you’d think as a pre-med student you would be a bit more slow? Patient, maybe? No offense.” Josh softly protested as the two made their way through the hole in the wall.
“I’m patient and restrained every day, boss man. But now, at this size, I can do whatever I want! What’s the big deal?” Trevor could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Josh was in disbelief. “The big deal??” Josh said, running past Trevor. He then stood directly in front of the tall blonde to block his path. “The big deal is that there could have been spiders in this tunnel! Or a mouse! Or like fifty million other things that can kill us!”
“Pfft. Come on. With the durability our new bodies have? We can fight off an ant or two.” Trevor tried to walk past Josh, but the shorter man cut him off.
“Wait wait wait. Durability?” Josh asked, puzzled.
“Yeah…? When I pet you with my finger earlier, you weren’t smashed flat. Your shrink technology has to give us extra survivability. I’m assuming this is way more of an “ant man” than “honey i shrunk the kids” type of shrinking, right?” Trevor said without a doubt in his mind.
Josh was dumbfounded. “Trevor… this… this is not Ant Man. We’re not invulnerable. We are VERY vulnerable, actually.”
Trevor stopped in his tracks. “Wait, what? Seriously? We're basically bugs???”
Josh simply shook his head yes. Trevor paused for a few seconds, processing all of this.
“Oh…” he said, quietly.
Another few contemplative seconds passed by before Trevor spoke again.
“Dude this place is a *gigantic* OSHA violation.”
“It’s actually a very *tiny* OSHA violation.” Josh tried to joke. But the joke was undercut by a strange sounding set of footsteps coming from behind the two. Josh and Trevor turned around slowly to see an ant the size of a sedan barreling towards them. It hissed, causing Josh and Trevor to scream as they ran for their lives. Reaching the opposite end of the tunnel, they emerged into the light.
After their eyes adjusted to the influx of light, Josh knew exactly where they were in the building. The bench, the treadmills, the giant mirror... It was the employee gym he had set up for his crew. The two had found themselves near the door. But before Trevor had time to take in all the gigantic exercise equipment, the ant emerged from the barely noticeable crevice in the wall- forcing him and Josh to back away from it. Scanning the area with its antennae, it then locked on to Josh and Trevor.
“Still wanna fight this thing?” Josh snapped at Trevor.
The ant hissed again and charged at the two shrunken men. They prepared their final words, tooo scared to notice the echoing booms that had been slowly approaching them their entire time in the gym. Just as the ant was about to gain major distance, a few deep voices could be heard from the heavens. A huge shadow loomed over the ant. And then:
CRUNCH. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
The unkillable beast was slain under a shoe the size of a cruise ship. But it wasn’t the only shoe that entered the room. One by one, 5 others followed it. Josh and Trevor, now shaking, craned their necks up to view the three titanic men who had just entered for their workout. Josh would recognize them as…
