Be it self preservation or fear you decided to run away as fast as possible. Even if you had stayed there was probably little you could do to stop the monster and you would only end up joining him. Maybe you could find someone who could help him? At the very least you could tell people what's going on but you remember that you accidentally left your phone at home.
