Life was good for Fagin and his dogs now. Sykes was gone and so were his Dobermans. Fagin had gotten a job as a cleaner for the Foxworths, and this even allowed it so he could live in their mansion along with his dogs, just like Georgette, Oliver, Jenny and Winston lived in it now. It was the best of both worlds for everyone. And because Fagin had helped in ridding the world of Sykes, he and his dogs were exonerated from all their past crimes, especially since they made it clear they wouldn't have done it if they had any other options and if Fagin wasn't so poor and desperate. They also swore an oath to never steal again. However, just as a reminder of what they once were and why they should be knowledgeable of the fact crime doesn't pay, an NYC cathedral priest gave them a special book. It was a book that focused around all kinds of sin, vice, crime and wrongdoing, and why it was wrong and to be avoided at all costs. Fagin was to read it to his dogs once a week, so they would remember why it was so important they made the change they did and why they were let off the hook this time, but might not have been if some things had been a different matter.
Now, this book, unbeknownst to any of them, or to anyone, including the priest, for that matter, was not just a book on sin and the like. It was also a book which was, in its own way, quite magical. And part of it consisted of the seven deadly sins chapter, which started with gluttony. After a few days of reading it each night, Fagin had reached that very chapter and marked his place. And though all his dogs listened well when he read it and learned what he did, one of them, Rita, to be exact, was more curious than the others about what was to be seen in the next of chapters. So when Fagin and the other dogs were asleep and so were Oliver, Jenny, Georgette, Winston and the Foxworth parents, Rita snuck to where she'd seen Fagin put the book, grabbed it, took it to a place where there was enough light to read despite how dark it was due to the moon shining through the windows, and opened it up to the gluttony chapter.
She put her paw on where she read to keep track of things and was just about to start reading, when all of a sudden the magic in the book reared its head(so to speak)and went off right at Rita, causing her to be knocked back and knocked out. What Rita didn't know after passing out from this surprise was that, after she woke up the next morning, she would see that the sin of gluttony had passed itself into her from that book mystically, at least in a way, and the result of it was that, while she was asleep, she turned out to have gained weight.
