You get to school the following day, to find that there's a note stuck to the front of your locker. This is from Rachael, suggesting you meet up at lunchtime to review the project scope, although to your surprise she has proposed meeting in the bookshop in the mall, rather than in the school. No doubt wants a quieter surroundings to think out the options...
The morning passes, and finally the bell chimes for lunch break, so you gather up your books, stuff them in your locker, and head across the road towards the mall.
You reach the bookshop and go inside, and are a little surprised that none of the girls are there. OK, guess you got there quite promptly, so you reckon they're all slauntering there a bit slower than you had. The man behind the counter asks if you're looking for anything in particular, and you explain that you're waiting for someone, so only browsing at the moment. However, rather than letting you wander around the shop he seems intent of keeping your attention and starts talking about the different books they stock, and that he is interested in clocks and watches, and then wants to show you some of his collection. First he shows you the big grandfather clock in the corner of the shop,, and then pulls out a pocket watch from his waistcoat pocket.
"Just look at the intricate metal work on this. It's really exquisite." Well, you try to look, but he keeps jiggling it about.
"Could you just keep it still for a minute so that I can see it?" you ask.
"Oh, I'm sorry, my lad. Hang on there." He then holds it dangling by the chain. Whilst it's swinging gently, at least you are able to focus on the watch and try to study and appreciate the details he seems so excited about. Funny thing is that you do find it quite interesting and are desperately trying to follow the watch with your eyes. Meanwhile you're aware he's saying something to you, but you really cannot make out what, and somehow it's getting harder and harder maintaining your focus and concentration on the watch. If only he'd keep it still. You open your mouth to say something, but you cannot think what you want to say, and then your mind seems to stop working, and you become oblivious to everything.
Meanwhile the bookstore owner is talking to you, but your consciousness hears nothing.
He reaches into a pocket for his phone, makes a short call, and puts it away again. A few minutes later the door at the rear of the bookshop opens, and Rachael walks in. "Hi Uncle Harry! Wow, it really worked - you have Tony completely hypnotized."
"Yes, but as I said you need to be sensible about what you want him to do or it really won't work. It's like getting someone to give up smoking - it really only works if they want to. The hypnosis just reinforces what the persons wants. So you won't be able to get Tony to do anything that he really hates, but it can help push him towards something he might want..."
The phone rings in the store. "Excuse me, I'd better take that. Now, he's all yours, just remember to click your fingers for him to wake up once your done."
"No problem Uncle Harry. I did help you when we hypnotized my ex-boyfriend last year, so I remember what to do."
"Yes, and I hope you won't repeat that chicken fiasco again. I wasn't surprised he dumped you after that."
Rachael turns to you, as you remain motionless and mentally blank.
"OK then Tony. When you wake up you are going to...."
