Whilst everybody else seems to have been assigned a group, you have not. The tutor then tells everyone else to work in their groups to devise a behavioral project based on the scope outlined in the information packs.
"We have a couple of you left over. We have something different for you to have a go at." He takes you and another boy and a girl aside. "OK. We needed 5 in each group, and we have you guys left over. Rather than compromising the results by having different group sizes, or putting you at a disadvantage compared to them, we want each of you to do some independent research on the topic of reactive behavioral responses by visiting a specific place, recording what you find, and then trying to elicit different responses to specific stimuli."
Well, you're not sure whether to be pleased that you have a 'special' assignment, or disappointed that you've been left out from the main focus of the project groups, and to be honest you're not entirely sure what the tutor just said. 'reactive responses', 'specific place' and 'stimuli' stick in your mind, but you're not sure how that all works. Oh well, guess you'll just have to make the most of it. So, where, you wonder, will be your specific place?
"Right," your tutor continues. We have three locations in mind, one for each of you. You'll draw straws to determine who goes where."
You each pull a different colored straw, and the tutor tells you what your location will be....
