This choice: I could lend you one of my shirts • Go Back...Chapter #9I could lend you one of my shirts by: Georgie “Okay, what have you got in mind?” you ask.
“Well, you don't want to wear that shirt, right?”
“Um, no… I mean right.”
“And you don't want to wear anything from your bag until it's been well aired?”
“Um, well, no.”
“And you can't stay like that 'cos you'll get sunburnt.”
“Um, right. So...?”
“Easy. You wear one of my tops. Don't worry – I promise you it won't be pink. I'm really not that cruel.” and with that she flashes a little grin.
Well, you're sure there must be another option, although logic suggests that her idea may be the better choice, albeit only until you can get one of your shirts sorted out. You reckon someone must be conspiring against you today, as this is just getting nuts.
“Okay. I’ll take it.” You say, then remembering from the previous occasion you correct yourself, “I would be really grateful if you’d lend me one of your spare tops Millie.”
“I’m right on it.” She replies, unclasping her bag and reaching in. She pulls something out and holds it up to you. “Here you are, that should do the job.”

“But it's...” you start, but Millie interrupts you.
“a tee shirt that will cover your shoulders, isn't cropped, and is the only one I've got that isn't pink. Okay?”
You pull it on over your head, and let it drop down over your torso. Well, it does cover your shoulders, so will protect you from the sun. But it really isn't the sort of thing a boy would normally wear, verging on cute and girlie. So now you're dressed entirely in your sister's clothes.
“Um, it's perfect..” you reply, admitting defeat to yourself. “All I need now is a bra, earrings and a bit of makeup, and nobody would be able to tell the difference between us...”
“Oh. I hadn't thought of that.” Millie says. “that's really a good idea.”
“What?” you reply. “I didn't mean it.”
“Well, why not? Rather than just being my half sister, you could be my full sister. That way nobody would worry about what you're wearing – they'd just think we're two girls out hiking. ”
You know full well you've been outflanked, and will probably end up doing what Millie says, but you won't go down without a fight.
“Well, for one I haven't got boobs, so a bra wouldn't fit me, I don't have pierced ears, so earrings wouldn't work, and besides if anyone I know was to see me...”
“Grief. Aren't you a wuss! It was your idea and now you're finding excuses not to do it! Give me 5 minutes and nobody would recognize you.”
“Or I can just stay like this...” you say, trying to pretend to yourself that what Millie is suggesting is a bad idea.
“It's five minutes of your time to prove it'll work. If you don't agree that your identity is hidden then you'd be welcome to change back into your ant ridden clothes again. One time offer. It's entirely up to you.”
Well, part of you says it could work, part of you says its a stupid idea, and you should really suck it up and change back into your stuff. After all, its only ants. They've probably all gone by now. Another part of you is wondering if it could actually work, and could you really look like a girl, not just a boy dressed up in his sister's clothes?
What will you do? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
