Richard slowly opened the door to the tiny Chinese shop. The interior was small, but it was jam packed shelves filled with all sorts of odd and random trinkets.
“Greetings child,” a small woman greeted.
Turning to his left, Richard saw a short Asian woman sitting next to a wooden desk near the back of the shop. Above her hung a small Chinese lamp, illuminating the otherwise dark shop.
She must be the owner...
“I see that you have come with a purpose,” she observed. “So tell me then, what is it that you seek, child?”
“I… want to be taller,” Richard mumbled, ashamed of admitting to such a thing.
The shop owner chuckled with mirth, making Richard feel indignant. Without a word, the lady stood up and walked into an aisle to her left. After hearing a bit of metallic rustling, Richard saw the lady emerge from the aisle.
But in her hands was a small necklace made of tiny red and golden yellow beads. Attached to the necklace was a small metal amulet, which had a large Chinese character inscribed on it.
Of course, Richard couldn’t read Traditional Chinese…
“This small charm will solve your little height problem,” the shopkeeper asserted. “Simply wear this at all times and its effects will slowly take effect.”
As Richard took the necklace, he failed to notice that the shopkeeper’s eyes had a faint, golden yellow glow to them.

After paying for the magic charm (which wasn’t cheap!), Richard walked home feeling a little bit lighter.
