You check to make sure everything appeared to be hooked up right and then pushed a big red button on the front of the machine. After flickering for a second it turned green and the small device began humming to life with a soft whirling noise. "Oh, thank goodness... at least this works." you say exasperatedly as you wipe some sweat from your brow. "After tonight I think I'm gonna use up about a week of vacation days... or a month..."
You turn back towards the gas station and are relieved to see shadows cast into the parking lot from the restored power. If nothing else, at least you wouldn't be fumbling around in the dark. You begin walking back towards the gas station when you notice a light off in the distant sky. "Oh noooo..." you whisper in a horrified tone when you realize the light is coming from the same direction as the meteor from before.
You run back around to the front of the gas station just in time to catch the impact of another meteor about a mile away in some field. Seconds later a few more glowing space rocks crashed into the nearby countryside. Some landed in fields, one splashed into a pond, one smashed the roof of a barn up the road and about half a dozen others sailed over the treetops and disappeared. "Fuck my life..." you groan as the lights begin to die down in the distance.
