It was a neighbor kid

It was a kid named Max. He lived across the street from us and was friends with my little brother.

He was 11 years old, stood 4’9” and weighed 78lbs.

He was a scrawny kid who loved to play soccer and video games with my brother.

Max looked like he had just come from soccer practice and was wearing a shirt that was much too loose for him and soccer shorts.

I smiled and invited him in to watch cartoons with me, patting the couch.
