"Just move the apparatus over here, make sure the O-rings are secured in the housing, resistance is in a closed circuit." Hank muttered to himself as he was tinkingering with a strange device shaped like an arch. He was up on the ladder fixing something up on the arch. He was engrossed working with it that he didn't even see Kurt, Nightcrawlerenter his lab.
Kurt looked up to see the device puzzled. "Hank what are you doing?"
Hank wobbled almost losing his footing on the ladder as crashing to the floor. "Oh Kurt don't scarem me like that!"
"Sorry it's just no one really has seen you for a few days now so I thought I check in on you." Kurt said.
"I appreciate the concern but I've just been engrossed on my newest project. I believe I'm close to a breakthrough!" Hank said his voice beaming with excitement.
"What is it, just looks like an arch." Kurt said.
"Just an arch?! This is the future! With my new machine we could do what hasn't been thought possible! Reaching out to other universes! I think I'm close, I just need to focus the electrons to the beam and it should work! Imagine what we could find! Things beyond our comprehension just waiting to be discovered and studied. We could find altenrayive clean energy, or even possibly end world hunger! The possibilities are endless!" Hank climbed down from his ladder and put it away. "I think it should be operational now! The switch for the device is hooked to my computer, activate it while observe the arch to make sure there isn't any arching." Hank said as he slapped on some googles his face.
Hank gave the all clear to press the button which Kurt did. A spew of blue lightning speed out from the arch as it soon formed into a blue window. Hank was astounded he had done it. He had created portal to another universe.
"Eureka it's done! I'll have to run some more tests before-"
Before Hank could finish his sentence an alert come on the screen from the computer. The message read "Unstable diffusion vacuum pocket created. Kurt had no idea what that meant but he assumed that it was bad"Uh Hank?" Kurt said.
Before Hank could respond he felt himself getting sucked into the portal he grabbed at the flooring desperately trying to hold on. But it was useless Hank lost his grip and was sucking into the teleporter. The machine flashed with sparks and then the machine died down.
A new error message appeared saying that the device had overheated.
Kurt rushed over to the device. Stunned and not sure what to do. "Hank!" He screamed. What was he going to tell the rest of the X-Men.
*******
Hank's eyes fluttered open. He rubbed the back of his head. It was sore. "Uh what happened." Hank looked over to see that he seemed to be in a field of some kind.
But something was off. Something was right about it. At first glance it looked like a field of wheat. But at the top of crop instead of wheat was.... twinkies?!
Hank wracked his brain, either he was having a coma-induced dream, or he was in another universe where twinkies grew like crops. Which then meant.... His device worked! He was in another universe. But with no way to get back to his own...
Hank contemplated his next action though the rumbling of his stomach had other thoughts.
