“.....So, Joey......what was that strange news you wanted to tell me about?” Yugi asked his friend. He wanted to know, and also wanted to break the slightly awkward silence that had just fallen after the their last topic had gone awry.
“Oh, yeah, that. Or rather those. Alright, where do I start with these.......ah, I know! You keep up with the overseas Duel Monsters Champions?” Joey begin to ramble. “Only with Rebecca.” was Yugi’s reply. “I’ve shifted focus, remember?”
“I know. Well, get this: the British Duel Monsters Champion, Edward Gale, was hospitalised a few days ago!”
“Really?” Yugi was kinda shocked by this. Was the overseas dueling that dangerous? “How so? Please tell me it wasn’t via a Duel......”
“Nope! His tea was poisoned. Heh, classical British......” The idea of poisoned tea seemed funny to Joey....though his smile faded when he saw Yugi’s disapproving stare. “It’s the irony that’s funny, Yug, not the dude getting hospitalised. Poisoned drinks are unhanded anyway. Besides, they don’t know if he did it himself or if was done by someone else.” He quickly explained, only getting an annoyed “Uh-Huh....” from Yugi.
“A-Anyway, it caused a big stir in the news.....and even more when the European Champion, Wallberto Kenny, basically acted like a total dick in response to the situation-“ “Europe and Britain are different countries, Joey. What’s one got to do with the other?” “I’m getting to it, he basically bad mouthed the dude and called him a coward, accusing the Edward dude of poisoning himself to back out of an upcoming Duel he had with him in a few days time. Said something like, “Such a coward. He couldn’t bear the idea of losing against me. No wonder he tried to take his life!” Got attacked by not only Edward’s fans, but turned a bunch of his own against him and got called out by the Asian Champion, Ramaja Xuju on social media.” Joey offloaded to Yugi, who responded with a “Wow.....”
“But that’s not all.” Joey continued. “This is where it gets gruesome. Two days ago, Wallberto was killed.”
“Wait, WHAT?!
“Yep. Pinned to a wall by a sword straight through the heart. No one knows who done it. And then on the same day, Ramaja nearly got killed by a car accident! He was lucky to survive, though he broke his right arm in the process.
“I......this is all terrifiying, Joey.....” Yugi admitted. “And it brings up a lot of questions....”
But before Yugi could ponder more, he was interrupted by someone.
