Chapter #1The Beginning by: Tony C Melody Griffin was at school, in the hallway with her friend Sharon, minutes before class was about to start. Then they saw the new student, Tom, go to his locker. Melody had a crush on him, so Sharon was trying to get her to talk to him.
“Come on, Mel. Go over there,” said Sharon.
“I can’t. You know what will happen,” said Melody.
“You’ve got to at least try.”
“When he finds out about my problem, and he will sooner or later, he’ll think I’m a freak.”
“Or he’ll be understanding. You’ve got to go talk to him before some other girl does.”
Melody listened to her friend and walked over to him. “Hi, Tom.”
“Hi, Melody,” said Tom.
Before Melody could say anything else, Emma walked up. “Hi, Tom,” she said, completely ignoring Melody.
Melody and Emma had known each other for years. Emma had never liked her, and Melody didn’t know why. They both liked Tom, so Emma was going to do whatever she could to be with him.
“Why don’t you come over to my house tonight to study?,” said Emma.
Tom was a bit distracted. Emma was wearing a miniskirt and he had been staring at her long legs. “Sure,” he said. Then he looked at Melody. “Melody, was there something else you wanted to say?”
“Um…,” said Melody.
Upset by the interruption and that Tom was paying more attention to Emma than her, she couldn’t even remember what she was going to say. She got nervous, and for her, that was a bad thing. She didn’t know why it happened, but for several years now, whenever she got nervous, something strange would happen to her. She had always been shy, so that made things worse for her.
