Chapter #5Just One Of The Boys by: Alessi It was the first weekend of summer vacation and Stanley was well on his way into slacking off again. The 40 year old man worked as a professor at the local university and thus had a lot of free time between semesters that he wasted away doing nothing for the upkeep of the house or for the well-being of his family.
Megan meanwhile labored long hours cleaning the house and making meals for the family on top of her part-time job as a lab technician. Stanley, a lovable sweet guy that he was, made a terrible husband. Megan sometimes considered separating from him to give him the reality check he desperately needed on being a man, but that would only ruin her precious boys' childhood. She wasn't interested in cheating on Stanley though, that would go against her Christian values. But she desperately wished there was a way to straighten him out.
Time and time again, she found herself chiding him just like one of the boys....
Stan's just an overgrown boy isn't he? Megan asked herself, already knowing the answer.
She was always gushing at old childhood photos of Stanley whenever they vised his parents house, which usually prompted her mother-in-law to tell her how much Jeremy and Billy were carbon copies of Stanley growing up. Now that she thought about it, Stanley was always gazing fondly at his boyhood photos right along side her.
She opened her laptop and brought up her mother-in-law's social media page and found the photo album dedicated to little Stanley's upbringing. She spent hours gushing and cooing at the young blond hair boy that was now a grown ass man downstairs.
Megan occasionally imagined herself as a little girl right alongside the young boy that was to be her husband. She wondered what that would have been that had been like, but the 39 year old woman knew that was a whimsical thought. Megan had a wonderful childhood herself but she didn't miss it by any means, she was an adult woman now and a mother to boot. She had responsibilities to her boys now which she realized now included her lovely husband.
Sometimes, people just need restart their lives. We can help with that.
Second Chance Clinic
The ad had been right there all along. She felt silly that she only just now recognized it. The ad featured two depressed looking women, one clearly the aging mother to the younger adult woman in her late 20's. Even for Megan's standards this young woman looked a mess, a drug addict by the look of it, but when Megan hovered her mouse over the ad the two females transformed in a bright flash of heavenly light. What came after mesmerized Megan to her core, the older woman looked years younger than Megan now. All signs of ages and wrinkles had been wiped away from the woman's happy and vibrant face.
The younger woman wasn't even a woman anymore, but rather like a cute little girl that looked ready to attend Sunday school all over again. Megan cooed at the thought that this girl had once been that sad drugged up woman seconds ago. Without hesitation she clicked the ad and was linked to the Second Chance Clinic's website.
She easily found the application page and started one immediately.
Are you looking for a Second Chance™ or are you looking to help a loved one?
Megan obviously clicked the second option.
Are you interested in attending a counseling session?
She clicked yes.
Is your loved one aware of the SCC and its mission?
This time she clicked no.
Please fill out your loved one's personal details to the best of your ability in order to receive consideration.
Megan worked away at the application for the rest of the day, only stopping to make dinner for the boys and the soon-to-be-a-boy. She had prepared spaghetti tonight and she couldn't help but giggle at how childish Stanley seemed now as he slurped up the pasta noodles which caused Billy to laugh and Jeremy to roll his eyes.
"Stan dear," Megan asked her husband, "Can you please act your age for once?"
Jeremy laughed which caused her silly husband to frown a bit.
"I'm the breadwinner honey," Stanley retorted, "I can do whatever I please. You're their mother not mine."
Megan smiled, "Yet you only respond to my nagging when I treat you like a lazy boy."
Stanley looked defensive, "I pay the bills Megan, I think I'm damn well entitled to act like a lazy boy whenever I please."
Megan agreed with all her heart. Stanley deserved to be a carefree little boy again under her thumb. She would raise him, play with him, and nurture him alongside his own sons. He would be happier being a kid again and Megan would be far happier having another growing boy in the household rather than a lazy manchild she had now.
Stanley had a man's pride though, how was she going to coax his inner child out of him? Megan considered her options. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
