"I'll just take fries and a vanilla shake," she hands him the money and as he is collecting her change stares at him. He looks up and she blinks glancing away.
"Here's your change. You were at the park yesterday weren't you? Reading a book righ?"
"Um yes that was me."
Tanner looks past her to be sure no one else is in line before pressing for more. "Do you go to the park often?"
"Yes but usually I read in the flower garden but it was more crowded yesterday," she plays with a stain of hair which had escaped her pony tail. "I've not seen you around here before are you new?"
"Yeah just moved in a block or so from the park," he leans against the counter and watches her closely seeing if she will unknowingly follow his lead. "I needed a place for a fresh start. How long have you lived here?"
Without realizing she is comfirming she likes him. She leans against the ledge behind her mirroring his stance as much as she can as a girl without the knowledge she were doing it. "My whole life."
"Tanner," a guy in the back says holding out a bag and a vanilla shake.
"Sorry," Tanner offers snatching them and spinning back to the girl. "I never got you name," he says passing her the order.
She took her order with a smile, "You never asked," she walks out with Tanner staring after in shock.
