"You know what? I think you've done enough damage," said Knuckles. "I'll go talk to her."
With that, he did an about-face and walked up the stairs to Cream's room and knocked on the door.
"C-come in," came a voice from inside. He opened the door to find the enormous rabbit sitting on her bed with her head down, wringing her hands. His heart ached for her; moments like this reminded him that behind that despite her transformation, she was still the same vulnerable girl she was before the experiment.
He took a seat on the bed next to her. "So... your mom told me that this isn't the first time you've walked in on her like this. Is that true?"
Cream nodded.
He sat closer and tried to put his arm around her, only to find that her shoulders were so broad that he could barely reach all the way.

After years of weekly check-ins, he had begun to see himself as a big brother figure (although at this point, perhaps the term "older brother" would be more fitting).
"And I promise, I'm here to talk if you ever feel scared. Okay?"
Her smile swelled, and she grabbed Knuckles and pulled him into a gentle hug. He smiled and returned the hug as best he could, wrapping his arms around her muscular midsection.
As they held the embrace, Cream whispered the following into his ear...
