This choice: your mom heads to your room • Go Back...Chapter #3Surprise vacation? by: Unknown (quick note, Alex is 17 in all my interactives here)
You hear footsteps in the hall, suddenly a knock in the door, and then opens up to reveal your mother, Sarah. She was still in her pajamas and her hair is incredibly messy.
"Psst Alex" she whispers thinking you're still asleep. You lift your head up and look at her. "Oh great you're awake sweetie, do you know if your sister's awake? I need to talk to both of you..."
You're confused, no you didn't know, but Melody is a heavy sleeper so your guess is she's enjoying her extra beauty sleep.
"I'll go get her and bring her in here while you finish waking up" you sat up in your bed as you watched your mom round the corner to wake up Melody. You stretch and wonder what this thing is your mom is prepared to tell us. You see your sister walking down the hall with your mom, half asleep, clearly annoyed she was woken up. She was wearing only a sports bra, with some fuzzy pajama pants.
Mom closed the door behind Melody. She sat at the end of your bed as Melody pulled up your computer chair next to you. She seemed a little more awake now than before. We both had turned our attention to mom. She was holding two small pieces of paper in her hands and a quarter, with a small case in the other hand. *Color me interested* I thought.
"So kids, as you know I won the lottery last month, it was very exciting for all of us, ever since your father left we've seen alot of struggling, but now we're set for life, it really has been a blessing" she looked down at her hands "You kids have seen alot and I'm proud of both of you for continuing to perform well in school and keep such positive outlooks through everything and be great kids but also siblings toward eachother. On another note, recently I was approached by a company that runs plane trips to the Pacific Isle, an incredibly exclusive resort island for the rich couples of the states, and seeing as we have to money now to go on such an amazing journey, I agreed to purchase tickets for us to go!"
Me and Melody lit up. We were blown away, this was a once in a lifetime adventure being given to us. I hugged Melody while mom sat silently and waited for us to finish.
"I know you're excited kids, but, theres a catch" me and Melody went silent. "This resort is meant for couples, and thus the airline refused to sell me more than two tickets, and well there are three of us going..." I looked at Melody and then mom
"So which of us isn't going???" Melody questioned
"Actually, all three of us will be going" she reached for the case she brought in the room with us, and put down the two tickets, keeping the quarter in her hand. She slid the case on her lap and unlatched the clasps on the front, then opened the lid. She reached in and pulled out a bracelet, about the size of a watch, and looked very similar, but it had more buttons and was slightly larger.
"See, I was determined to make sure that both of you could go with me, I wracked my brain to try and figure out a way you could both come with, and then I saw an infomercial on tv about the first ever shrinking device to ever hit shelves. I called the number and payed the fees, and now, I have this" she holds the oddly shapen shrink ray up for me and Melody to see. "So because I'm the adult and you need me to get on the flight, I'll bring one of you on the flight, while the other will be shrunken down to about an inch tall, and hidden from airport security, and when we finally get to the Pacific Isle, we'll grow you back up"
You were shocked, Melody looked shocked as well. You hadn't even thought such a thing existed. You spoke up "Wait so which one of us is going to shrink th-"
Melody interrupted you "Where's the shrunken one going to hide away, what if our bags get checked?"
Your mom spoke calmly "Well, if the two of you can't decide on which is shrunken then I'll simply flip a coin" she held her quarter in her hand "As for hiding, well... you'll need to get 'creative'. You'll probably be small enough to be able to hide away in a bag or purse, but at the same time we can't risk it, so I'm leaving it in your guy's hands to decide"
You look at Melody and she looks at you, she grins at you, you don't grin back. You can only guess that you're expression was nothing more than horror. "So Melody, you wanna shrink?" You ask, knowing the immediate answer would be-
"No?? Do you wanna be shrunken for a multiple hour flight??" You ponder...
"Honestly I don't either..." You say back. Your mom glances at both of you and then down at the device.
"I figured this would be the case" she said strapping the wrist device on. "That only leaves the coin to decide... Melody, heads of tails?"
Melody sits silently for a few second and then calmly answers "Heads"
Your mom looks at you and grins "That leaves you with tails Alex" you say nothing, mostly out of shock and fear. The excitement for this vacation was still very much present, but the fear of being an inch tall and at the will of you little sister horrified you. You loved her, and she loved you, but you knew this would make you vulnerable to pranks, something you and your sister were big fans of...
