Chapter #7

Fear in the Woods

    by: Unknown
Clearly, something both remarkable and terrifying had just brought us here. Venturing into the forest seemed like a no-go, considering the odd feeling both of us had about it. Sticking to the path, although possibly leading us to the witch, was still the best plan.

"That woman must have sprayed us with some sort of hallucinogen, or stunned us with a chemical. What we just saw... it wasn't real, was it?" Phoebe said in a bewildered tone.

I shrugged. "Beats me. I don't feel hung-over or anything, and it certainly felt real." I didn't want to mention the word 'magic', but it was clearly something supernatural.

My friend straightened her blue blouse, now covered with grass stains, and pointed to the dusty path. "Let's just get our bearings. We can worry about that crazy woman once we figure out where we were dumped."

I nodded, and led the way. The forest was much different than the one we were planning our picnic in. The trees enclosed the edges of the trail tightly, and thick vines weaved through the gaps like curtains. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the plant-life was actively blocking our sight. I didn't mention my thoughts to Phoebe, although I did glance back at her occasionally. Her brown hair was slightly mussed, and her blue eyes looked concerned, but she was still the image of a beauty.

Distracted, I clumsily tripped over a root and landed facefirst in the dirt.

"Ow. Son of a bee!" I muttered. It was more of an injury to my pride than anything, and Phoebe helped pull me up. Once I was back on my feet, I noticed a sign enveloped in the vines.

Phoebe noticed it too, and read it aloud: "Darkmoon Graveyard... Beware."

Rubbing my skinned elbow, I repeated the words. "Beware? Must be private property or something."

"Or.. something much worse. I really don't like this place." Phoebe hugged her body. "Maybe this was a bad idea."

Yeah, probably, I thought to myself. But I couldn't show weakness now, despite the fear I was feeling.

"We need answers, Phoebe. We can't just hang out in this forest all day. We have to find that woman and set things right."

Phoebe nodded, but concern was etched across her face. We reluctantly continued down the path, until...

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*

2. We reached a small village
