Chapter #4

An unpleasant letter

    by: Cyb Author IconMail Icon
"Hello, who's there?" I shouted through the door. A female voice answered friendly: "I have a letter for you!", a clinging sound from the letter box could be heard, "my boss told me to ensure somebody is home and it gets read. Please read it soon. See ya!" A bit irritated I answered "Bye!" and heard the clicking sound of her shoes on the street as she left. I felt like I knew her voice, but I couldn't tell who it belonged to.

After a moment of thinking about her voice I realized that the situation was a little strange, usually nobody cares about when letters are read, I opened the door a little and checked that nobody was outside, before I slid through the door crack and opened the letter box, inside was a large brown envelope. Before opening it I put on a pair of blue underpants, a white T-Shirt, shorts and a pair of black socks and made myself comfortable on the couch with the envelope.

Inside of it was a letter from my school, I thought the summer break had started this week and everything was alright, so what could they want from me.
While reading it I started to panic the school realized that I had a lot of problems in different subjects, because many teachers stated that I was way to unfocused and missed to many classes, I had to admit I've become a little lazy last year, but my tests where mostly good and missing when there are no tests seems fine for me if I know the topics already well enough. The letter also stated that I still have a chance to pass the year and make up for everything if I do special tests in this one week, I don't have more time, because the teachers will only be in school this week to clean up stuff and do final exams for students willing to better their grades, before being on vacation themselves.

After reading the letter I tried to see something positive in it which was really hard, but at least my family was on vacation and I have a chance to make up for my laziness. This way they will never know, there are also some teachers I really like and classmates that could be there for improving their grades, so maybe this will be tolerable and after a week I can still enjoy my summer. Thus I decided to eat a bowl of cereal put on a pair of sneakers and go to school.

Once I reached the old building with 4 floors I entered and was astonished how empty it felt, on a normal day there are hundreds of children here but now I felt like I was the only one in the building that was of course not true, but it still felt a little depressing. I took out the letter I had in my trusted backpack and decided to begin my extra point operation with...
