This choice: Yes, but you have some questions first. • Go Back...Chapter #4Yes, but you have some questions first. by: kamper “I can’t really say no can I? I mean I can but if I said no and you were as bad as the reason why I would say that then you’d do it anyway. On the off chance that you weren’t then I would be leaving you to die by yourself, and I couldn’t do that either. And if what you’re saying is true then if I don’t take this… ‘gift’ then it is possible it will randomly choose someone that might do what I am afraid an evil Vampire would do. So I guess I accept but I have some major questions that need answering before you… well make me a Vampire, the Vampire.” You answered. To this she couldn’t control herself and gave you a hug, almost squeezing the life out of you. But it was one that you had gotten before and you just, slowly, hugged her back. If you were really going to become a Vampire then you would want people to treat you the same and being afraid of a hug because of you or her proximity to your neck wouldn’t be something you would want. After about 5 minutes she let go and sat back down.
“I knew you were the right one Caleb, I just knew it. But you’re right, you should ask all you questions now because I won’t be around afterwards.” She said with a smile.
“You won’t?” you asked.
“No, when a Vampire gives their essence to another the thousands of years they lived are put into play, turning our bodies to dust. In a sense, this gift is the only thing that holds our bodies together after about 100 years. But don’t think you are killing me by accepting. Like I said, I die tonight anyway and would rather you get this gift than some random guy who may use it to commit great evil.” She explained.
“Ok.” you said as you looked down. You weren’t expecting that she would die as a result of this. But before you could dwell on it you were pulled into her so that she was holding you on her coach with a hug of sorts like a mother does to her child when comforting. How you got from your chair to the coach was beyond you but you had to assume it was another of a true vampire’s powers. “Ok, I better ask while I still have you here to answer then.”
“I suppose you should.” She said as she let you go and instead held your hand so you could talk while still feel her strangely calming touch to your skin. It was as if her very presence forbid you from panicking or feeling sad.
“I guess I should get this out of the way. What are the strengths and weaknesses of a real vampire that I have to watch out for?” you asked. She smiled as she saw your mind turning to the possibilities of what your new life would bring.
“Well, the only weakness we do have is silver but not in the way you think. Silver keeps me from using my abilities and you will find that I… we have a lot of them. I only ashed when staked by hunters to bring forth the legend that if you stab a Vampire in the heart or cut off our head we die. That isn’t true. The ONLY way for us to die is to pass on the gift. However, Silver will prevent you from using your new abilities, even the enhanced strength and speed you will receive. I sometimes wear silver jewelry to live a normal life for a few decades, but we still don’t age so it gets tiring but it is possible.” she explained.
“So all the sunlight, crosses, garlic, wooden steaks, burning,…?” you started.
“All lies that I’ve spread over the years to protect you. I didn’t always know you would be the one but with so many people already knowing, or think they know, what works on a Vampire it should protect you. Although the silver one is kind of a pain in the… butt.” She interrupted to answer your question but also censoring herself. “But I guess not drinking blood could be perceived as a weakness as well. You see blood, like I said before, is like our gas for the abilities we have. If you use too many of your abilities then you will find yourself craving blood to fill your gas tank as it were. I would recommend a dairy cow or something big enough to sink your fangs into, a human will only attract attention if you don’t know how to heal them afterwards.” She said.
“Heal them afterwards?” you asked.
“Don’t worry about it, you will receive the genetic knowledge of how to use your abilities when you fully turn. But I guess I could answer that on by showing you, if you will allow me?” she asked as she raised your arm. You nodded to which she smiled and brought it close to her mouth. “You see my, and your future, saliva acts both as an anesthetic and a minor healing agent. So we can feed on people in their sleep without them knowing, like this.” she said as she protruded her fangs and dug into your arm. You flinched as you expected to feel pain but instead it felt almost orgasmic. She only drank for a little bit, maybe a second or two, then removed her fangs and held your arm for you to see. It had some blood on it but not holes where her still protruding fangs had entered.
“You… that felt… why is there…” you stuttered as you wiped away the small amount of blood to reveal nothing where there should be at least an indent if not gaping holes where her teeth went in.
“You see, it acts quickly and yes it doesn’t feel bad at all, does it? Personally I think it feels as good as sex, especially on my end which is the last weakness we have.” She answered then licked what was left of your blood from your arm and put it back down, embracing your hand in hers. “You see, you will find that drinking blood is like… eating sex I guess. That is why I suggest you drink from something like a cow or something that has a lot of blood to start. The human body only has a limited amount. So if you give yourself over to your cravings and urges like humans do, then you can easily kill your meal while draining them of all their blood, and without you knowing it until they lay limp in your arms. I… it will happen to you eventually, it happens to all of us at least once. So if you remember anything remember that your kindness and care for humans will save you. If you don’t care about them then your mind won’t remind you in the middle of feeding. But if you care for them then your instincts will stop you or at the very least act as a distant voice for you to hear.” She explained.
