You exhaled a wisp of smoke after taking a long drag off your cigar and popped the cap off a fresh beer straight from the cooler. The sun was setting on the distant horizon and you were glad to enjoy some downtime before you headed out for your next big mission. A cool breeze blew across the balcony as you opened your laptop and brought up your contract database on the dark web. There was a lot of shady shit that went on there, but it provided discretion and plentiful clients in need of an experienced combat veteran like yourself.
You checked your inbox and scrolled down the list of potential contracts. Some jobs were too dirty for you to consider and others just didn't offer the cash you needed. The hardest part of finding a new job was always balancing time investment with worthwhile payment. Lots of people offered millions to keep their dirty secrets from surfacing, but that mattered little when doing a cover up required weeks of planning, bribing and searching. You always preferred the simpler jobs... shoot some guys, steal some stuff... blow up a building or two... all of this spy and espionage horseshit got on your nerves.
While deleting a message from some guy who wanted your help shooting up a government building you came across an email from an unidentified agent asking for help with some kind of experimental new ammo. Interested at the prospect of discovering a practical new type of ammunition you immediately clicked the open tab and read over the contract. The pay was good and you would be allowed to keep some of the goodies for yourself once the job was over... the only catch was that this would be a tougher mission to complete.
With the mafia involved and god knows how many underworld criminals things were sure to get messy at some point. While you were never a man to back away from a challenge you were getting a bit older and had to take care that you didn't step into something you'd have trouble finishing. In the end, though, the lure of prototype incendiary rounds was too great a prize to ignore and you sent a quick reply to get some more details.
After squaring everything away you closed your laptop and headed back inside once you finished your cigar and beer and booked a flight for New York. Tomorrow you'd fly out to the Big Apple itself on one of the most thrilling jobs of your life, but for now you had to come up with a plan. This wasn't a job for rookies and while you were confident in your abilities experience told you to always have a plan of action, especially an exit strategy in chase the shit hit the fan.
After an hour sitting at your kitchen table with a fresh glass of orange juice you headed off to bed confident that you were ready for anything. The question is, what kind of strategy did you go with?
