You sipped on a fresh whiskey sour as you lounged in your hot tub and watched the sunset from the balcony of your apartment. You were just about to light up a cigar when your phone rang from the nearby table, forcing you to get out of the warm water into the cool night air. "Every single time I try to relax, without fail..." you mutter to yourself as you grab a towel and drape it over your shoulders. "I hope this is at least something important."
With a click a deep voiced Russian man with a thick accent greeted you on the other side of the line. "Hello my friend, I hope I am not interrupting anything?" You sigh as you take a sip out of your drink and sit the glass down on the table. "No, no, I was just about to grab a quick soak in the hot tub and relax a bit. If this is work related, let me have the details and I'll get back to you with my answer."
"That sounds good, my friend. I'll have the contract sent to your private inbox, please enjoy the rest of your evening." came the reply as the man gave a quick laugh and wrote something down on his notepad. "Of course Mr. Barlov, thank you for considering me. You have yourself a nice night." you reply as you hang up and walk back over to the hot tub. After about an hour you finish up your last cigar, get dressed and boot up your laptop. Sure enough, a new contract was waiting for you when you logged in.
Apparently, a shipment of rare and expensive cars was being delivered to a secret warehouse tomorrow evening on the far side of L.A. for an upcoming car show. Whoever footed the bill for these beauties clearly didn't skimp on getting them delivered, all of the vehicles had been shipped first class with extreme care given by their handlers to make sure none were lost or damaged. The list of special modifications made to several of the cars boosted their value even further... you wondered if some of these changes were even legal in this state.
"Barlov's not offering much, but a simple job like this'll help get me back into the swing of things. I've been taking it easy a bit too much while I wait for jobs to come in." you say to yourself as you send your employer a confirmation email and go over the details of the job. This wouldn't be too hard to do by yourself, but there was no way you'd be able to retrieve all of the cars even if you used stealth. To get them all you'd need a proper crew... all of whom would expect a sizable chunk of the profits.
Another factor to consider was security, judging by all of the expenses paid to keep these cars off the radar and safe it was a good bet that their owners would be pulling out all the stops to protect them. Locks, keycards, cameras, security patrols... who knows what you'd have to get past. Calling in some specialists might help in this area as well, but they'd all want to be paid too. You could either take some big risks and hope they pay off or do things the smart yet expensive way.
